As some of you know, M10 is the name of the core set coming out this year. Even though I am not done with Alara Reborn posts, (I’ll post combos part 5 within 2 days.) there are already cards from M10 being spoiled, which I thought would start in late June. Here’s an MSE mockup of Golden Lotus, which is a Black Lotus variant much, much different from any other yet. (I know, the M10 symbol doesn’t look right. Blame MSE for that.)
First, and most important, it adds 9 mana. That’s not a typo. Second, it requires you to sacrifice lands. Third, it has shroud. Fourth, it comes into play tapped. Fifth, it actually doesn’t come into play, it enters the battlefield. This could easily lead to a turn 5 Progenitus, or even 2 turn 5 Progenituses. (On the off chance that you have 2 Dramatic Entrances, 2 progenituses, and a land in your hand turn 5.) It isn’t completly broken, but it also is a great card. Now the hunt is on to find ways to cheat this into play without sacrificing lands. This works well with Knight of the Reliquary, because you end up with 4 lands in your graveyard, or Crucible of Worlds, which will allow you to replay the lands you sacrificed and then replay this. This card has lots of potential for comboing. After M10 comes out, I’ll probably devote an entire post to this one card. (Unless the other M10 cards have more potential.)

Why not use bloodmoon or magus of the moon to counter 3lands sac??
maybe this was a good idea for control R/U with golden lotus

You may want to proofread there a little bit… Progenitus is legendary, so having 2 in play is kinda sub-stellar.

Nice catch – I completely forgot that it was legendary. You can activate a Door to Nothingness instead, if you want.

This card should be an instant that reads “Sacrifice 4 lands: discard that uber mythic from your hand because everybody already knows you have a golden lotus and is holding a counter, o-ring, path or purge anyway.”
Although I could see this being useful to play a few smaller spells (i.e.: 3 drop, 3 drop, pump…swing) , using it to drop a fatty is risky business.

well since the changes to the game say “battlefield” and not “play” I’m going out on a limb and saying this is fake.

As I’ve said, this is a MSE mockup made by me, not a card image. I am used to comes into play, so that is how I wrote it in. (Copy/paste doesn’t work properly with MSE, so I had to write in the effects.)

this is fake because the art is from sunpetal grove which is one of the new dual lands

We’ve known that for a long time now. It was revealed to be fake around 3 weeks ago.

That wouldnt work, because it comes into play, and bloodmoon checks after the come into play effect. In addition you wouldnt be able to use the cards ability untill bloodmoon left play. Fortunatelly you dont have to worry about it because it not an actual card. =)
